Founders Gus Matos and Johnny Carwell became best friends through their love of cosplay and comic book conventions. Growing up, they both experienced being bullied and other hardships, and comic books were an escape for them.
They realized how happy they could make other people just by putting on a costume, and thought there had to be more they could do for their community. Being a hero isn’t just about the costume, but about the actions you take. Networking across different platforms and events, they built their team of heroes, now known as the Heroes United.
